This is a 2001 VW New Beetle that would be a rebuild project or vehicle for parts. The water pump failed on this vehicle which led to the engine overheating on the highway. The engine is pretty badly damaged with a number of interior parts melted. Additionally, it needs a new battery. Dealer's estimate to replace engine was from $3,000 - $6,000. This vehicle DOES NOT CURRENTLY RUN. Jump starting does not always work, so if the engine will start it will run okay for a few minutes for moving it around. This vehicle CANNOT be driven on the road in its current state. Inside, the interior is fairly worn in places due to normal wear and tear, and in good condition in other places. We have owned the vehicle since it was new and was used for 9 years straight as a very short commute vehicle. Therefore the current engine only has 68k miles on it. The decals and stickers on the exterior of the car can be removed. However, please be aware that they have been on the vehicle for at least 5 years and may be difficult to remove. The rear window decal will easily come off if desired. The wheels are original but have not been used for 3-4 years since custom wheels were placed on the vehicle. The original wheels and hubs have been put back on and are what you see in the pictures. They have some decent tread wear left on them. However, the right rear tire has a very slow leak in the valve stem. The hood does not always open easily without some tools, but that can probably be fixed fairly easily. All interior and exterior lights function, with the exception of the left-side back-up light, which is burnt out. (These won't work without a new battery of course.) Since the vehicle does not start or run, the buyer is responsible for vehicle pickup by tow truck. On Apr-28-10 at 11:18:18 PDT, seller added the following information: I should add that the radio antenna is missing (radio still works) and that the glove compartment door handle is slightly broken. (The handle latch and lock work, but one side of the latch broke off so it only latches on one side.)
