Vehicle Detail
1969 Chevy Camaro Convertible, 383, 5 speed, 69 conv 1969 Chevy Camaro Convertible – project almost complete WHAT HAS BEEN DONE: 383 pro built by professional race engine builder Andy Jensen (http://www.jensensenginetech.com) The engine was built as a street/strip motor and on the dyno it put out 445 hp and 492 lb/ft. Brodix, Holley, Weiand, much more. 5 speed Tremec TKO 600 12 bolt 3.90 gears (originally from ’67 Camaro), multi leafs Front disc conversion, line lock, just about everything mechanical forward of the firewall is new The car has 66,000 original miles (less than a thousand miles on the new drivetrain), and excellent original floors, trunk, etc. not patched, plated, or replaced. Three point seatbelts front and rear Most of the mechanical work is finished. This car is very reliable, I had it on a 300 mile trip this past weekend and it performed perfectly. I have invested more in parts than the reserve price (contact me through eBay and I will send you an extensive list). WHAT NEEDS TO BE FINISHED: This car still needs some work to finish although most of the expensive work is done. First of all it needs paint. My plan was to strip the entire vehicle for a perfect finish. However, if you are looking for a “driver”, a quickie job could be done. (But doesn’t a ’69 Camaro convertible deserve better?) I have not reinstalled all of the bolts (for the bumpers, fenders, etc) so exterior items could be easily removed for paint. The left quarter should also be replaced for perfection. It currently has body filler to smooth out an old brazed in section. The convertible top functions perfectly, but to do the car correctly it should be replaced. The original plastic rear window cracked so a piece of vinyl was temporarily installed. I have not finished the interior yet as I planned on installing the subframe connectors (which are included). Therefore, the carpet, console, etc. are not installed yet but are also included. So, the interior also needs a little work and detailing to complete. Included with the purchase of this car (but not installed) is a Pypes exhaust system with electric cutouts. For some reason or another the collector reducers are missing (a part which is available at many online retailers or just about any muffler shop). CONCLUSION: Of course, there are probably a lot more little details, but I just wanted to outline the basics. Again, I have invested more in parts (not including any labor!) than the reserve. This car is an excellent investment if you just want to do some bodywork/paint and not have to worry about the reliability of a vehicle. Of course I cannot guarantee nothing will ever go wrong, but I would bet if you flew in from even California (the Wilkes Barre/Scranton airport is close), you could drive this car home … no trailer needed or no shipping fees. Included, if you want them, are the original 307, powerglide, 10 bolt rear, hood, wheels and tires. Is the car perfect? No. Can it be? Sure, if that’s what you want. Is it a racecar? No. Can it be? Sure, if that’s what you want. Me, I wanted a fun, drop top, for the street (well, maybe a pass or two down the quarter just to see what it will do) so that’s how I built it so far. The reserve price? Yes, I know it’s expensive, but the vehicle I started with was not a junkyard find, a barn find, or a rusted out shell pulled out of a field. I purchased the car from an older gentleman who had retired years before from a local Chevrolet parts department. He really loved the car, even with its 307/glide and hubcaps. I have this car advertised locally, so I reserve the right to end this auction at any time. Please do not bid unless you can afford to pay the amount of your bid. A $1000 non refundable deposit is required via PayPal within 48 hours of auction close. The balance is due when picking up the car. This car is to be picked up near Wilkes Barre, PA. Buyer is responsible for all shipping fees. Although I have described this Camaro as accurately as I could, it is being sold AS-IS, so ask questions now. I am in Northeast PA near Wilkes Barre, so if you can, make arrangements to see the car before bidding. Take a close look at all of the photos and if you would like to see more detailed photos of the build go to: http://www.bartuskasfurniture.com/69_Camaro.html Please contact me with your questions and I will answer them honestly. If you would like to talk to me directly, contact me through eBay and I will email you my phone number. Remember, this car still needs work, but it was an excellent vehicle to begin with and has a lot of money, labor, and time invested in it! Thank you for your interest. djbartu Store
