Vehicle Detail
This is a 1967 Malibu Convertible with 51,717 original miles on it. I am the second owner; previous owner was a little old lady from Hopewell, Va. As far as I can tell, everything is original and in place, except for the rearview mirror bracket. It looks like it came out of a hard top. I replaced the rearview mirror. I replaced the water pump and flushed the cooling system just to make sure there wouldn’t be any problems with over heating. I also replaced the thermostat. I still have the original water pump; it will go with the car. I changed the oil and transmission fluid and both filters. I drained the rear and filled with fresh oil. The motor is a 283 with a 2 barrel carburetor, backed by a 2 speed power-glide. The transmission slips! The floor pans look to be very solid from underneath the car; I have not removed the carpet. The trunk needs all new pans! The bottoms of all body panels have the normal rust issues found on all forty-plus year old original cars. The hood and trunk also have a little rust along the edges and on the inside. I also replaced the exhaust, duals. The water gutter around the trunk is rusted through in many places. The original owner had the SS hub caps on this car for as long as I drooled over it as a kid. I am not sure if she ordered it like that or just had them put on the car. The car has sat for three years under a cover but ran very well when I parked it. Since then, the fuel pump has gone bad! The car had just passed a Virginia motor-vehicle inspection before I parked it, even though it is not required by law for antique vehicles. The body is very straight and there are no signs of it ever being in a wreck. All of the glass is in great shape, excluding the plastic window in the rear. Fix the transmission, replace the fuel pump, charge or replace the battery, tune it up and drive! Purchaser will be responsible for pick up and delivery. It will not drive onto a trailer because the transmission slips, but the old tires hold air and it will roll. Sorry but I can not help to load this vehicle because of health problems. · A $ 500.00 deposit must be paid at the end of the auction. · There will be no exceptions made! · Payment in “cash” must be paid in full for the balance at the time of pick up(within 7 days)! · There will be no exceptions made! · This car is sold as is! · Have any questions? On Apr-28-10 at 12:07:49 PDT, seller added the following information:I showed the car today to ebay member cableva. After hooking up a fresh battery and supplying fresh gas from a squeeze bottle, it fired up after just a few tries. Then I found out that the fuel pump works after all. If anyone else wants to check it out and hear it run, I will still feed it from a squeeze bottle. The gas in the tank has sat for a few years so I don’t want to take a chance on messing something up! Thanks for coming out cableva. Good luck!On Apr-30-10 at 14:16:50 PDT, seller added the following information:I just wanted to thank member woodyw and another member, who wishes to remain anonymous, for coming out to look at the Malibu. With 93 watchers and those who have come to see it and wanted it on the spot, it should be a pretty exciting auction. I hope that everyone can get in their bid. Good luck! Mark
