Vehicle Detail
427 SC Cobra Contemporary Classic Professionally Constucted in 1982. Twice Prize Winner at the National SAAC Eventes. Shown in two different issues of Kit Car Magazine. Carroll Shelby signed the underside of the hood. Licensed in 1983. 20500 miles. Karl Baughman had the car built in the early 80’s. I purchased the car from Karl about 5 years ago. I remember when Karl first built the car and the cost to do it would have almost bought him a real Cobra at the time. He used some parts from a original cobra including a original cold air box. Original hard top sliding windows, original Talbot fender mount mirrors and a original cobra shift knob. 351 Clevland Engine. Custom Valve Covers. Stainless steel custom header. 750 Holley carb with Lemans bowls. Original style oil cooler with aeroquip tubing. Seven quart aluminum Shelby t type oil pan. Aluminum radiator. 4 speed toploader transmission. The comtempary cobras where the considered the best and most correct kits in the 80’s. They have a original style 4” ladder type frame. Compomotive wheels. Soft and hard top with Gurney bump. The interior consists of authentic dash, all smith gauges, Austin Healey heater and competition seat belts and Nardi Steering wheel. The car is in very good condition. I have all the maintenance receipt since the 80’s. It has been driven over 20 thousand miles so there are some rock chips and the paint is original from the early 80’s. I get asked all the time if it’s a real cobra because it has that patenna look to it. The car was painted in laquer so there is some laquer check in the paint that you can see if you get within a few inches of the paint. The reason why I’m selling the car is because I just do not have the time to enjoy it. I have known this car since the day it was built and since that day it was always a dream to own it one day. I have been lucky enough for the past five years and would like to see the car go to a good home where it will be used and enjoyed. NO Reserve. The car is for sale locally.
